Central Louisiana in FilmIn 2007, the city of Alexandria began formulating a plan for marketing Central Louisiana as a viable locations option for the US film industry. Thus the birth of Central Louisiana in Film. Very early on in their efforts, the organizers asked KJA to assist with their marketing efforts. We began by creating a logo — which often magically legitimizes seemingly intangible efforts. The next step: develop marketing materials for use at the American Film Market in Santa Monica, CA.

The Central Louisiana in Film team returned very encouraged with the contacts made and response received. Since that initial effort (and other subsequent trips), it seems the film industry HAS taken notice. The area’s provided locations for a number of films (at least in part), with more set to come.

Most recently, Cypress Moon Productions announced they would be filming large portions of their next two feature films in the area. For one of those movies, downtown Alexandria will return to the 1930’s and help tell “The Story of Bonnie and Clyde.” The Alabama-based Cypress Moon even plans to open a satellite production office in town.

Certainly we’re not the next Hollywood – yet – but you can’t deny the significant increase of film work. And that’s directly attributed to nothing less than us shouting – “look at us!”

KJA is delighted to be a contributor to the effort. We offer a hearty “BRAVO” to the team behind this achievement. Reports about the economic impact make it clear this is a blockbuster opportunity for our area.
